“What was a rematch of the 2025 State semifinals proved to be a good matchup early with Saint George’s throwing everything they had against the Hurricanes. MVC was up to the task, earning a 17th minute goal from Nolan Wohlgemuth off a Landon Lehecka assist. The Hurricanes came out swirling in the second half, with three goals – 43rd minute – Sam Kincaid from Grady Woodmansee, 65th minute – Walker Wohlgemuth from Zane Dahlberg, and the 69th minute – Connor Mounts from Walker Wohlgemuth, and held on for the 4-0 victory. It was the third consecutive shutout for keeper Ryan Russell and a stout defense.”

Next Match:
The Hurricanes will be back on their campus field Wednesday, September 23 for another non-league match. This one will be with Orcas Island and is scheduled for a 4:00PM start. The Vikings (4-0-0) defeated Chesterton Academy this morning in Spokane, 6-0.

September 18. Mount Vernon Christian v. Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame (Spokane) 4:30PM

Mounts started the scoring in the 25th minute unassisted, then added a goal in the 34th off a Nolan Wohlgemuth assist, and again in the 37th. Sam Kincaid scored in the 63rd minute off a Walker Wohlgemuth assist and Mounts added his 4th goal off another Walker Wohlgemuth assist. Ryan Russell got his second consecutive shutout in goal.”

Next Match:
The Hurricanes will stay in Spokane and have a non-league Noon match on Saturday with Saint George’s School on the Dragons’ campus field. Saint George’s (2-3-0) was soundly defeated by Orcas Island in Friday afternoon’s first match, 7-1.

The Hurricanes will travel to Spokane for two weekend matches as they continue the non-league portion of their schedule. Both matches will be played on the soccer field at Saint George’s School. In Friday’s match, the Hurricanes will face the Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame Knights at 4:30PM. Saturday’s match will have a Noon start with Saint George’s School. The two Spokane-area schools play on Wednesday, September 16.

“Shortlyinto the 2nd half, PCC was an awarded a free kick from 25 yards out. The shot by Noah Adam was deflected off the wall sending the keeper one way and (the ball) fell harmlessly into the goal for a 1-1 tie.”

Tomorrow, September 11, the Hurricanes will ferry to San Juan Island to meet Friday Harbor in their second Non-League contest. The match will begin at 4:15PM and be played on the spacious Linde Community Field.
This will be the 46th meeting between the Hurricanes and Wolverines. MVC has a 28-17-0 advantage in their all-time series with Friday Harbor.
The Hurricanes won the League/District match a year ago in a shootout, after playing to a 1-1 draw through regulation and overtime.
